Six jurors struck (3 by each side) right off the bat this morning. That left 11 retained jurors -- not enough to swear in the panel. And the search continues.
Juror #3054 is called in for screening. She has a letter from her employer. Juror is the only one at her company who treats lymphedema. There would be no danger to patient if she weren't there, but the massage techniques she uses is more effective than nursing type treatment. Juror is excused.
Juror #3206 is called in. She heard media reports about the case, mostly the same info the judge read from indictment. She watched most everything that was televised about the case, she said. Remembers photos of Anthony partying, that she didn't look distraught. Knows about odor in trunk, grandparents, much more.
She watches Nancy Grace quite a bit and probably saw coverage on that show. Also watches 48 Hrs every week and says she probably saw whatever show they had about Caylee but can't specifically recall it. Has also read news articles. Says she has formed an opinion that Anthony is guilty. Doesn't feel she can set that aside and be impartial. She is excused.
The judge is calling in another round of jurors to be screened. He is also calling in the 11 jurors who have been retained after back-strikes this morning. Once he gets a 12th juror, he will swear in that panel. Court is recessed til 10:15.
List of dismissed jurors:
Juror #1119 - The truck driver for a boat manufacturer with 2 young daughters; sibling robbed at gunpoint.
Juror #1129 - Single male; ins. industry, prior studies to be a paralegal; initial opinion of guilt.
Juror #1232 - Works for the St. Pete Times. Finnell tried to have him dismissed because the judge said one of her questions was improper in the presence of the juror.
Juror #1407 - The young man who was arrested in TN for weed; atheist; studying to be mechanic.
Juror #1426 - Patient care tech who likes "shooting guns" and working on his car.
We think the sixth is Juror #1312 (Thanks to @CFNews13Casey @OSCaseyAnthony @JimLichtenstein @PhoenixTears321 and @dmmcglynn for all your help!) This juror is a nurse; 2 young grandkids, daughter on probation; brother acquitted of armed robbery.
